Welcome to Sokokis  RidersPicture-010

The Sokokis Riders, Inc. snowmobile club was established in the early 1960s and may be the longest, continuously operating snowmobile club in the state of Maine. Many of the original members were also members of the Buxton/Hollis Lions Club. Today we have approximately 50 members and maintain 60 miles of trail. A primary goal of the club is to continue a good working relationship with the landowners in order to keep our trails open for all to enjoy. Our winter activities include local club rides, volunteering to work at our snack shelter and working on our trails. Our snack shack is located on the pole lines; where we offer hot dogs, hamburgers, fries and beverages. Be sure to stop in sometime! We also get together in the summer (usually at least 3 long weekends)for camping trips. Sponsoring dances and Christmas parties are things we’ve done in the past as well. In the fall we host two grass drags events for racers from all over to come out and show off their stock and modified machines; as well as view our local vendors’ new inventory for the season.

At graduation time we have a scholarship for a graduating senior. If no club member has a graduating senior we work with Bonny Eagle High School to choose one. The club has also been involved in helping members of the community in need by putting on a supper or having a workday. As a family friendly club we are always looking for new members of all ages. Please consider coming to one of our meetings (children welcome) to check us out. Meetings are potluck on the first Sunday of each month at the Groveville Firestation on Turkey Lane Road at 6:00 P.M. for dinner and meeting at 7:00 P.M.
